There are few types of developments that system suppliers can make to their products that have as big an impact, to both clinicians and patients, than when healthcare systems can work together. We believe that safe, effective, high quality care is dependent on interoperability.
Electronic Health Record (EHR) interoperability enables better workflows and allows data transfer among EHR systems. Ultimately, an interoperable environment improves the delivery of health care by making the right data available at the right time to the right people.

Interoperability in healthcare: supporting Adult Talking Therapies
Digital technology, such as EHRs are fundamental to the safe and efficient delivery of care, but the real value of digital and data comes when the health ecosystem is fully integrated.
Digital tools – whether they are patient facing health apps, EHR systems or specialist clinical software – deliver the most value when they work together, to ensure that care is not fragmented, and that patient experience and quality of care is maintained.
Mayden actively seeks opportunities to integrate with other safe and secure clinical systems, to provide greater EHR interoperability. By prioritising strong partnerships, our iaptus EHR now integrates with over 20 digital health platforms, allowing better access to support for our adult Talking Therapies customers across the NHS.
EHR interoperability solutions: iaptus & Rio integration
We have enabled interoperability between two leading mental health system suppliers: Mayden and The Access Group.
Interoperability between iaptus EHR and the Rio electronic patient record (EPR) system, ensures clinicians have access to all the information they need, and patients don’t have to retell their story to multiple professionals. This project was a collaboration between Mayden, The Access Group and Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.
Carolyn Holmes, head of informatics at Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust said of the collaboration:
“This will ensure our clinicians have all relevant information to deliver safe and effective care to our patients.
“We identified having two clinical systems and not having the function to share information was an issue. We wanted to continue to use both systems, each with specific functionality, but needed a way in which these could integrate.
“With this new development, our systems allow staff timely access to all the information they may require. This also means our patients do not need to retell their story to multiple professionals and we have all the information available to determine the most appropriate care and support.
“This was something very specific to our current needs but was recognised as having potential benefits to other organisations using multiple electronic patient record systems.”
This integration between iaptus and Rio is ultimately about improving care for patients, and we are excited about what this development means for our adult talking therapies customers.
Mayden’s future aspirations centre around interoperability, to build on the work we have already done and continue to work with other health tech suppliers to help improve access to mental healthcare for all.
